Description

How to Build a Collective 101

Collective organization allows for the greatest local and structural changes in the pursuit of justice and equality.

Local collectives are essential for identifying the needs of our communities and working to build spaces for struggle. As Afrofeminists, creating, preserving, and nurturing our own political spaces is necessary to ensure our safety and liberation before, during, and after the revolution.

Over the past five years, the Mwasi Collective has contributed to significant advances in the struggle for the liberation of Black women. One of our political goals is the circulation and sharing of resources and knowledge to support the growth of Black and Afrofeminist movements.

We are therefore offering this six-week Digital Bootcamp on How to Build a Collective, designed for other Afrofeminists or Black activists who want to create a local collective or focus on a specific issue.

By the end of these six weeks, participants will have developed a political statement, a charter, a functioning structure, and an initial launch action.
